Our flight arrived in Bali at 1am, and we didn’t get to the hotel until 2:30am. We were tired and groggy-eyed, but adrenaline kept us up and running and we made it to Bali’s Blue Point Beach at noon bright and early the next day! Carol and Truman both managed to look fresh and gorgeous, despite the late night.
Blue Point Beach was quite at trek to get to. We had to go down a hill and many steps, past surfers, shops and slippery slopes. But the results were worth it! Blue Point Beach is a surfer’s paradise.
Before selecting this location for their pre Bali wedding photos, we did a lot of research and looked at predictions for high and low tides. The tides can come in very rapidly and the beach area can become very dangerous, very quickly. We timed it so that it was low tide when we arrived at noon, and so it was safe to walk along the beach. We continued to monitor the waves and water levels throughout the shoot though, as we knew we had limited there.
After 45 mins of shooting, we knew we had to leave because the water levels were rising very quickly. We had to walk around the edge of the beach to get back to the stairs. If we had waiting another half hour, the walkway (and we!) would have been engulfed by waves.
Carol and Truman were very brave, though. They were willing to get wet in their gorgeous dress and suit and it made for spectacular and dramatic photos!
It was definitely a great start to our Bali trip as a Toronto Destination Wedding Photographer!
